    Perhaps I am reading H.R. 1695’s text and summary incorrectly, but I can not find anything in the provision that limits the Librarian’s term to 10 years. Furthermore, it appears that instead of making this a solely presidential appointment, the Librarian simply joins a “panel” composed of the Speaker of the House, the President pro tempore, and the majority and minority leaders.

    • I’m sure you’re reading correctly. This, to my eyes, is an ideological move intended to prevent the Librarian from ‘rewriting’ history so as to through the existing official narrative into question.
